Bell Office Project

Community Family Guidance Center’s mission is to help Southeast Los Angeles County’s underserved children and their families heal from trauma, abuse, emotional, behavioral and mental health issues through proven interventions and compassionate guidance.

To achieve this mission we formulated a strategic plan in 2017 containing seven goals to accomplish by the end of 2019. The third goal on our plan’s list reads “Access – Overcome current impacted office space and provide easy access in 3-6 locations throughout Southeast Los Angeles County.” One of the biggest hurdles our clients face in getting the help they need is physically getting to us for treatment. Transportation is expensive and difficult for many of those we serve. Many use public transportation which is difficult to do with a family.

CFGCAfter studying at a number of external surveys and our own internal stats, we identified several regions within our service area lacking access to care for the services we provide. The largest region of need includes the Cities of Huntington Park, Bell, Cudahy, Bell Gardens and South Gate. In fact, we discovered that approximately 18% of our current clients, 324 families, have to travel from this area to one of our two offices located in Downey or Cerritos. That is a 28 mile round trip trek that takes 3 hours via public bus.

In 2017, we went to work on establishing access to care points in that region. We established MOU’s with several schools in that area allowing us to help children in need on those school sites. We also found a strategically located space for lease in the City of Bell bordering the City of Cudahy across the street from Ellen Ochoa Elementary / Middle School. In this location we will provide mental health treatment to children in need through-out the day and into the evening after school hours.

This City of Bell location needs to have therapy offices built out internally before we can use it for treat children. The costs for establishing this new location will run approximately $50,000.00. Once established, we believe this office in the City of Bell will be used to help hurting children for many years to come.

We invite you to partner with us and help fund this needed project. Your partnership will provide a safe place where families affected by trauma, physical and sexual abuse, and other mental health issues can heal and restore their lives. Please scroll down to support this project.
