Carlos is a 6-year-old boy who lives with his mother and brand new 3-month-old baby sister. Since his sister’s birth, Carlos has had temper tantrums every night before bedtime and has hit the other children in his kindergarten class.
His mother brought him to therapy at Community Family Guidance Center to address these issues. The therapist worked with Carlos through play therapy to address his feelings about and jealousy of his new baby sister. The therapist also helped his mother by teaching her ways that she could show Carlos she still cared about him, even with a new baby in the house. Carlos’ teachers now report that he is interacting well with the other students, and he has stopped having temper tantrums at bedtime.
